I am building my own machine and have built other machines in the past. I have tried to install Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Red Hat EL5, OpenSuse 11.2 and all fail in the middle of installation. Windows Server 2008 gives me the most descriptive error, BSOD, Page Fault in Non Paged Area. I also ran the standalone Windows Memory Diagnostic tool:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

All tests FAILED. Definitely appears to be a memory problem. The Intel forums claim the DQ45CB mobo requires the following memory specs:

Non-ECC, 1.8 V, DDR2 800/667 MHz memory
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) memory only
Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs (except double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization)

I cannot find any OCZ doc to verify these specs against OCZ2G8004GK. Can support clear this up, is OCZ2G8004GK valid memory for Intel's DQ45CB? If not then what OCZ memory does meet these specs?

Thanks - Roland Martin

The OCZ2G8004GK should work with your system. It will run at 1.8V.

Please test the system with only one stick of memory installed and then with the other.

Intel lists tested memory for the mobo at the following:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dq45cb/sb/CS-029529.htm

I ended up purchasing some ******** memory on the list and the system is now working great. I do not know for sure but the symptoms suggest that the memory was incompatible, not defective. I really like using OCZ products but in this one case it appears it is best to stick with tested memory sanctioned by Intel.
