OCZ Forum Rules - Guidelines

Be Respectful!

We have always prided ourselves on the quality of our support. Being end users ourselves, we understand the frustration that can result from products that don't operate the way we think they should. This frustration can spill out into the corresponsence with Support people, however unintentional. All we ask is that you give us a chance to help before that happens. Ranting on the forum before you give our Staff a chance to help will accomplish nothing. Be respectful toward Forum Staff, they are people just like you and they pride themselves in the support they provide. We will not tolerate disrespect, rudeness, or attacks on OCZ Forum Staff. The anonymity of the Internet does not give you the right to be disrespectful or rude. Being disrespectful and/or rude to a Staff member will be viewed as a violation of these Rules and will be dealt with accordingly.

Be Courteous!

Don't attack others. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated, this includes but is not limited to flaming or insults. Challenge the points of view and opinions of others, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully...without insult and personal attack. Members who subscribe to this sort of behavior will not enjoy their membership for long. Common courtesy can have an amazing effect on correspondence. This includes using basic grammer, spelling and punctuation. If you type a post using all lower case letters with no punctuation and using IM abbreviations, do not get irritated when a Staff Member or fellow member ask you to explain yourself. Posts of this nature cause a lot of extra time and effort to decipher, and we reserve the right to request a better explanation if needed.

Be Cautious!

Think before you post or speak: Do you really want to put your address or telephone number on a public discussion forum? We encourage you to keep personal information personal.

In the same vein, do not ask for personal information from others. Posts that request members to submit personal information to another party will be removed. Information that should be considered personal includes but is not limited to your home phone number, name, and age. If you must give this out for any reason, please do so privately.

Be Appropriate!

There may be places where explicit, obscene or vulgar language, graphics or behavior is appropriate, however this site is not one of them. Posts that contain explicit, obscene or vulgar language will be removed. If you cannot express your thoughts without using this kind of language then you may wish to purchase a dictionary and learn some new words. Similarly, posts that solicit or offer explicit or X-rated GIFs, JPEGs or similar content files will be deleted without notice! This is a computer forum, should you wish to view that sort of content then try a Google search. This also applies warez-related material, in all forms. No offensive usernames, signatures, titles or avatars are allowed. In all things, the Staff will decide what is offensive or not and will make all final decisions on such matters.

OCZ Forum Rules - Posting

Fill in the Pre-Post Info When Requested

We reserve the right to request that the customer go back and fill out the requested information when posting in the Warranty Forums. This information can greatly speed up the support process and in most cases is a requirement in order to provide accurate support.

Follow the Guidelines Above

We reserve the right to treat any non-compliance of the above guidlines as a violation of these rules.

No Cross-Posting

Please don't post the same discussion more than once on a discussion forum or on many forums. There is a forum for every subject, pick one and post. Duplicate discussions are frustrating and counterproductive for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Duplicate discussions will be deleted.

No Advertising - Spam

Do not heedlessly place your advertisements through the Discussion Forums. This will be considered SPAM and could result in the loss of your membership. Spamming of any kind including pornograhic-related will be dealt with severely. OCZ is totally against SPAM in all it's forms. Posting links to content on other sites such as threads in the News Forum or reviews on other review sites are not considered SPAM unless it is deemed to be an advertisement of a profitable nature.

No Abuse of PM

Private Messaging is provided to the members of the OCZ Support Forum as a service intended to enhance the community experience. The purpose of private messaging is to allow for discreet conversations to take place between members. Please don't abuse this privilege. Solicitation, spamming, or harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. Any member receiving an inappropriate private message should forward that message to an Administrator or Moderator right away. Do not carry private discussions onto the public forums, and do not carry differences of opinions from private discussions to the forums or from one forum to another. Although private messages are normally only accessible by those who send and receive them, they are part of the database and as such, property of the website. An Administrator, if so inclined, could locate the Private Messages in the database and read them. They are private, but not necessarily secret. In addition, Private Messages are not intended to deprive the Community of valuable information or experiences which could benefit the entire group. Please do not use private messages if the content of the message can be helpful to others.

No Reference to "warez" or Other Illegal Activities

The OCZ Support Forum will not tolerate any links or references to warez, warez sites, "warez like" sites, illegal cracks, illegal hacks, or any other related ventures, or sites that may promote such illegal activities. Posts of this nature will be immediately deleted, and the offending member dealt with accordingly.

No Copyrighted Material

Information copyrighted or owned by any individual or entity other than the member should not be posted on the discussion forums or software libraries without the consent of the owner. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible. OCZ Forum, nor OCZ Technology shall not be held responsible for member-posted information that may violate copyright law.

You cannot legally post entire articles or news in the forum without permission from the copyright holder. Even if you attribute the article correctly it?s still copyright infringement. Copyright law does not care if you make any money off of the work or not, what matters is if you hurt the potential income of the copyright holder. In this case you would be depriving them of ad revenue and it is illegal. Under Fair Use provisions you can legally post a small abstract of an article - or perhaps the opening paragraph. So if you want to post an article you should do this and include a link, or just post the link. The exception to this rule is press releases; press releases are meant for distribution and can be copied and distributed as much as you want. If you are not sure if you can copy something then always err on the side of caution and simply post a link to the material.
