Default CCleaner...wipe free space..Could this be TRIM for gen1 SSD??

Take note you CORE/SOLID/APEX users it looks like Christmas may have come early

CCleaner has a new option...Wipe Free Space.

This for some works JUST THE SAME as Wiper.exe on the Vertex drives..IE it fills the drive then wipes it. It takes a alittle longer than wiper.exe but it does look to work well.

I have just tested CCleaner on Solid and Apex vista32 systems, both saw speed ups and both had seriously benchmarked full drives running the OS.

some info from the gen2 forum http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=56837

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

It looks to maybe work with raid arrays also.

This post has been edited...on some systems this does work, on others it does not.

Default Setting you need to be aware of

Check the pics for where wipe free space is located and where to pic the partitions you want to clean.

This is great! Does it really support RAIDs; Has it been tested?

    Please sticky this!

I do not work for OCZ...READ STICKY'S FIRST ! ... OCZ Drives best in IDE mode for compatibility but single member raid is some times the best ... ..Read through the wiki section at the top of the forumtrouble with flashing:http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=64121

Is there much difference between the normal and secure erase? In terms of performance and read/write counts.

normal is, from the description, simply wiping it away (probably only the first bit), without erasing all blocks (not interesting as far as our purpose of "revitalising SSD" goes )

Secure is erasing all blocs, and you have several degrees in that, from a single pass up to 35 passes (basically, you're not supposed to be able to recover anything no matter what tool you have)

for our use, a secure erase in a single pass should be enough

Edit: while typing that, it just occured to me that maybe those who see no improvement for their SSD simply use ccleaner with default setting, which is the "fast" option... you need to select the "slow" one to have your free space really "free"

Options -> Properties -> Secure Erase select one pass "slow"
