    Talking AS SSD Benchmark

    (thanks at hagar for providing the OCZVertex-Screenshot)

    I am developing a new benchmark especially for Solid State Drives.
    The benefits of my benchmark are:
    * Good precision of results
    * Simplicity of use
    * Optimized for SSD
    * Screenshot-function
    * It's freeware

    Min. sys req:
    * Windows XP/Vista/7
    * .NET Framework 3.0
    * An SSD to test with 3gb free space on it

    Known bugs:

    Feel free to report your experiences and results here.

    P.S.: sorry my bad english.

    What does the 4K Async mean?

    4k-Async means that 64-Threads reads(or writes) 4k-random-blocks at the same time. That simulates typical program-start(or installation). It also shows if controller optimizations working good.

    So that should be multi-threaded, instead of async. async can occur on one thread

    You should also do a plot of random 4k read/write vs number of threads

    This would tell us how much parallelization can occur before you loose to overhead

    @Pyrolistical: it is async for the drive(not async for the thread), but ok i will rename it. 4k read/write vs number of threads would take long time on a single vertex(and the performance would fall with every test because lack of trim). But that could be a good additional test. I'll think about it. Thank you.

    just have your app call trim between tests

    The App is not for Vertex SSDs only. And that TRIM-tool is Controller-specific(and dont work with Win7 x64 in RAID-mode).

    @tyranid

    You can also use the text-copy function:

    AS SSD Benchmark 0.8.3450.36572

    I guess we'll just have to wait until trim is implemented in the FW for your tool to be fair

    It just shows the actual performance. The developers of SSDs should know how they can make it better. Win7-compatbile-Trim should help a lot. Or you just run the TRIM-Tool befor testing.

    @HDCHOPPER I see a translation-bug in text-mode. thank you for finding it. It seems that the 2 solids slows your random-writes down.
