    Default Ver 1.1 versus 1.3

    Hello,
I have 3 VERTEX 250GB drives. Drive A and B were running with FW 1.1 since it was released. Drive C was running 1.3 since it was released. Two weeks ago Drive C went offline. I could not get it running again so sent in with RMA.

Today I updated drive A to FW 1.3. Within an hour of use, the drive went offline. I have not touched it since.

    Two questions:
    1) How do I save drive A without having to send in for RMA
    2) Is this just coincidence? I am tempted to go back to fw 1.1 on all drives. I have been monitoring the forum regularly and not seen and major problems with 1.3 compared to 1.1 but this just seems too coincidental.
    3) If i want to go back to 1.1, how do i go about this?

    and thoughts?

    thanks!

trippy board there. another member w/ich7 is having a similar issue. somehow i don't think your board was designed with fast ssd in mind. there could be a number of issues here. the 1.3 is an "update" more so than a major FW release, but it brings a welcome self care option. which version of the kontron do you have?

i am using the CP307. i am using wiper each time the system starts up. my application is a data logging device so this works well for me. therefore, the "self care" option i can live without.

thanks for the response tuney....if nothing else, it gets my post to the top of the list

So right now the drive is toast. I tried to reflash 1.3 but the drive is not seen. Last time i had this problem i put the jumper on, booted to windows and tried to put 1.1 on the drive. But this failed miserably. A 1/2 dozen emails later I had an RMA number.

Is there any best practice in getting this drive back up and running???

    thanks!

A hard clear coms ..unplug psu, use cmos jumper, remove mobo batt, hold down on button 2 min to drain caps & try again ...

    Allways do things admin...
I do not work for OCZ...READ STICKY'S FIRST ! ... OCZ Drives best in IDE mode for compatibility but single member raid is some times the best ... ..Read through the wiki section at the top of the forumtrouble with flashing:http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=64121
