Default Agility/Vertex/Turbo and also EX 1.5 FW Update

Do not flash to 1.5 unless you are on the 1.4/1.41 FW from our October release. You cannot flash from 1275, 1370, 1.10, 1.3, or 1.4xB FW to 1.5

Do not use the files in this post for Turbo, use the files in Post #4 of this thread

Do not use the files in this post for a drive on FW 1.42, start at post #6
    .

If you get a "Bad command or filename" with 351102 or 361102, you need to read Post #10

Do not flash backwards from 1.5 to 1.4/1.41/1.3

Same rules as the 1.4 updaters, this works in IDE mode only (you can't be in AHCI), on Macs detection is slow...so be patient.

Boot to the ISO...the first screen you will see is this:

This first screen is the drive detection screen, you need to input the drive number...this then tells the detector to call the correct FW flasher for your drive.
I input 1 and hit enter, then the following screen pops up:

So now you have to hit Y for the flasher to detect the drive...do NOT hit enter...the Y is all you need, i obviously have to enter 1 to flash the drive then hit enter there after.

You can run the CD again to verify that you have 1.5 FW on the drive, as it will show in the 1st screen.

If you have a Mac, I do suggest before you boot to the ISO to flash your drive that you clear (zap) PRAM 3 times...then boot to the ISO and follow the instructions you see here...then once flashed reboot and zap PRAM again at least 3 times.

On a PC make sure you flash with no overclock on the machine, the SSD is in IDE mode and the first SATA port. Flash one drive at a time and make sure you clear cmos thoroughly and reset timings etc before you boot back to windows if you see issues after the flash.

The best way to clear CMOS is to remove all power to the motherboard and remove the CMOS battery...then short the battery terminals with the edge of the battery or a coin for 2 minutes. I do this in preference to using the CMOS jumper as quite often the CMOS jumper is not thorough enough.

This release has TRIM And GC all in 1 package, only 1 ISO for each drive type. Dynamic Wear Leveling algorithm has been improved.

    Default USB 1.5 Updater

Some of you guys are using USB sticks and having some trouble.

Create a bootable USB, using your favorite method or this one here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=29726

Drop the files from the appropriate Zip onto the USB stick, boot to it and it should automatically start the flasher, just like the ISO files.

    Download Agility USB

    Default Turbo Users Rejoice!!

UPDATE Feb 9, 2010: With the jumper on the drive, you may see a 128GB drive, even if you have a 30GB or a 60GB. You still need to use the file that is named after the drive size you purchased. When the jumper is installed, the drive is in engineering mode, it is no longer an SSD and cannot be used as such, just ignore the fact you see 128GB in the bios or in Windows while the jumper is in place. ALWAYS use the file that corresponds to the drive size you purchased - 30, 60, or 120.

    TURBO FW 1.0 > 1.5 SECTION
(if you have FW 1.4 on your Turbo, continue down to the 1.4 section)

The only way to update is through a destructive flash and you will lose ALL your data on the drive. This is the reason for the long delay with Turbo drives. Similar to the old betas for the regular drives, the core code of 1.0 does not allow a direct update through DOS. We need to erase everything and put the 1.5 code in there.

You will need a PC that is running Windows for this procedure, you cannot do this with the OS running from the SSD. The drive has to be installed as a secondary drive and then follow these instructions:

    1) You need a jumper for this. Old motherboards or spinning hard drives usually have a jumper that will work fine.

    2) Place the jumper on the 2 pins near the SATA connector:

    3) Download the files, I have placed them all in 1 zip file to make it easier. The file names are pretty self explanatory, they are named by drive size. There are 2 files for 60 and 2 files for 120 because there are 2 different Nand types out there for those drive sizes. 90+% of you will not be using the "Alt" files, but if you get an error, then run the other file.

    Turbo 1.0 to 1.5 Updaters

    4) Install the SSD into a PC as secondary drive (with jumper in place from step 2) and boot into Windows.

    5) Unzip the files and then run the file that applies for your drive size, by simply double clicking the file.
If you have a 60GB or a 120GB, run the "60GB.exe" or "120GB.exe" first, if that does not work, then try the "ALT" file. In Windows 7 and Vista, you must run the file "as administrator" so right click it and choose "Run as Administrator".

    6) From here, a DOS box will open and things are pretty self explanatory. You will see a list of all your drives, 1 of them will be a "YATAPDONG BAREFOOT". That is the drive you select to update. Press the corresponding number for that drive to start the process.

    7) Once the process is done, you will get a completed message and asked to remove the jumper and reboot. I recommend shutting down Windows and then removing the jumper.

    8) Once that is complete you are free to re-install Windows on your newly flashed 1.5 drive. No Sanitary erase or any other cleaner should be necessary. Hooray!!

    TURBO FW 1.4 > 1.5 SECTION

If you have a Vertex Turbo drive that shows FW 1.4 from the factory, then you can use the regular DOS updaters like the regular drives. Here are the downloads for ISO and for USB:

    Turbo 1.5 ISO File

    Turbo 1.5 USB File

If, for some reason the above FAILS on your FW 1.4 drive, DO NOT PANIC . Follow the above instructions for 1.0 users and you will recover the drive with the jumper method.

You MUST read this entire post before updating your firmware !! I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to fully understand what I post here. If you have ANY doubt/questions/concerns, please post them in this thread: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=67901

Default 1.42 FW for 60GB Vertex and Agility

This update is ONLY for certain 60GB Vertex and Agility Drives that are on FW 1.42.

This method "MAY" work in AHCI mode, no guarantees, it will probably work on some boards, not others. Best method is IDE mode for guaranteed flashing.

The only way to update is through a destructive flash and you will lose ALL your data on the drive.

BEFORE you follow the instructions below, you need to RUN THIS APPLICATION
If the application returns "661402.exe" then and ONLY then, do you follow the instructions below. If your drive returns a different number, then see the updaters in the next post for your update from 1.42 to 1.5.

You will need a PC that is running Windows for this process, you cannot do this with the OS running from the SSD. The drive has to be installed as a secondary drive and then follow these instructions:

    1) You need a jumper for this. Old motherboards or spinning hard drives usually have a jumper that will work fine.

    2) Place the jumper on the 2 pins near the SATA connector:

    3) Download the proper file for your drive, Agility or Vertex

    AGILITY 60GB 1.42 to 1.5 updater

    VERTEX 60GB 1.42 to 1.5 updater

    4) Install the SSD into a PC as secondary drive (with jumper in place from step 2) and boot into Windows.

    5) Unzip the file and then run it. In Windows 7 and Vista, you must run the file "as administrator" so right click it and choose "Run as Administrator".

    Default 1.42 to 1.5 updaters

If you have a drive with BETA FW from May/June 2009 that was known as 1.42B (Note the B after the 2), this updater is NOT for you. DO NOT flash the updates below unless your drive WAS SHIPPED with FW 1.42 on it.

Here are the updaters for the other 1.42 drives that are not covered in the above post. If you get any errors (like bad command or file not found) just make a thread and let me know.
These updaters are just like other 1.5 updaters, NO jumper, IDE mode, bootable USB stick or use the ISO to CD boot.

    AGILITY 1.42 to 1.5 ISO

    AGILITY 1.42 to 1.5 USB

Updaters 351102 and 361102 have been removed (they were causing problems). If you get the "Bad command or filename" for those 2 updaters, you will have to sit tight until I have a solution.

EDIT February 26: See Post #10 of this thread for these updaters.

    Thanks.

This post is for updating certain Agility 60 and 120 SSD's. If you follow this post: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...NEED-THIS-INFO and you drive identifies as needing 351102 or 361102 then this update is for you. ONLY those two drive types use this update, everything else should be covered in one of the posts above.

Again, only use this update if you have a drive that identifies as 351102 or 361102.

You will need a PC that is running Windows for this process, you cannot do this with the OS running from the SSD. The drive has to be installed as a secondary drive and then follow these instructions:

    1) Download this file (Both 60 and 120 are in the same zip, use whichever drive you have)

    2) Install the SSD into a PC as secondary drive and boot into Windows.

    3) Unzip the files and then run the proper one for your drive size. In Windows 7 and Vista, you must run the file "as administrator" so right click it and choose "Run as Administrator".

    4) From here, a DOS box will open and things are pretty self explanatory. You will see a list of all your drives, 1 of them will be the "OCZ-AGILITY". That is the drive you select to update. Press the corresponding number for that drive to start the process.

    5) Once the process is done, you will get a completed message and asked to reboot. I recommend shutting down Windows fully, then turning the PC back on.

    6) Once that is complete you are free to re-install Windows on your newly flashed 1.5 drive.
